is there something that allows a PCMCIA wireless card to work on a desktop?

Basically it is a "PCMCIA PCI adapter"

So its just a pci card that gives you a pcmcia slot on the back of the pc


I did a search on google for "pcmcia pci adapter" .... but I did see reference to them being called "card readers" also

thanks for the help...do you know if there is any limit to the MBPS that would be allowed due to the adapter

ie. if i have a 108 MBPS pcmcia adapter, would it only be able to read at 11 or 54, or should it be an equal transfer?

you are only able to go at 133mb/s through a pca bus so mabey if a new version of wifi that is faster comes out....but are you saying that you dont have a wifi card yet...you could geta plain wi-fi pci card that would be better

Im clueless about speeds etc. Either way the pci adapter thingy is not idea cuz it puts the pcmcia card back behind the comp where it might be a little blocked as far as transmitting.

But you can look up the specs on one of those links...or go to dlink or netgear or linksys websites....they probably all have these same kind of adapter cards and they would have info.

i was looking for the adapter so i can have one for both my laptop and PC, that way im not spending as much, but if i cant find any of these for less than i am, i might as well just buy one of each

It should be able to transfer at the max speed of the wireless card through a pci slot.

This is the PCMCIA card reader I use on my machine.

Works well. Haven't tried it with wireless though.
