I am looking into what OS i should load onto my system . i was wondering wether Windows XP Home or Prfessional would be better. This is a desktop PC and i am about 99% sure it will not be connecting to a server/network. Only a wireless internet connection. I have used lunx and have it on one of my laptops so it takes that out of the question. This will kinda be a home PC and my family isnt the smartest when it comes to computers. I am probaly going to be running a Athlon64... but dont know which one yet. Im waiting until prescott and until the change the chipset to 940.but besides that any suggestions.

XP pro is better, but the benefits are outwayed by the cost except for the uberpower users. So get XP home.

I'm stumped.

Does your family know you think they "isn't the smartest" ?

Just get XP Pro. If you get Home, you will feel inferior around people that use Professional. But - if you get Win2k Pro, you can smart that 2000's proven track record outweighs XP's still-rather-new pedigree.

My most dependable computer has 2000Pro, If it wasn't for games I'd dump XP on my other one and install 2000Pro. 2000pro doesn't like games.
