Hi,first time user.I have a pentium 2 computer. The monitor that came with it was a DAYTEK,several days ago the monitor went black,so I replaced it with a SAMTRON,SC-428 TX.I downloaded the driver from the internet for the SAMTRON.Everything went fine during the instalation, color is good, picture is nice, and clear, the problem I'm having is that the desktop don't fit the screen horizontally. When I center my desktop on the screen I have a 1/2"black space ither side od the desktop.I used the horizontal adjuster at the bottom of the monitor to it's limit,my resolution is set at 800 by 600,I'm using High color (16 bit). The 428 TX ,monitor is the same size as the DAYTEK, around 13" the vertical is fine, just can't get my desk top to go the full width of the screecn.I'd sure appreciate any help you can offer, hope I'm explaining my self where you can under stand what I'm saying.Thanks.........Swallies.

Welcome to the forum!

Well, the first thing that pops into my mind is..."whats the refresh rate?"

If the refresh rate is screaming high...like , say, 80-100hz...it could have "blown" the old one and be messing with the new one.

right click the desktop, properties/settings/avnavced/adapter...see if it is listed or if it just says "optimal" or does it say "list all modes" etc.

usually you set the refresh to around, say, 70-75hz.

If its too high the monitor might not be "strong" enough to fill in the whole screen at that high refresh rate.

JP

edit----------------

oh, its a used monitor?? It might not be able to fill it out all the way...could be a weak picture tube...which would really make it hard for it to do a high refresh rate.
