Crap, what the hell did I just do?

Alright, I went into my bios and upped the mem frequency and the multiplyer. Then I went into memory timing. I changed it from optimal agressive. Then it goes to flash the bios but now it wont boot up and gives me a funny beeping noise like a European siren. (do de do de do de)

What the hell did I do and how the hell do I fix it?

Thanks.

Just clear the CMOS jumper and then reboot. That should return the memory settings back to normal.

I don't understand that part. Do you mean you were flashing the BIOS? You should always do a "Restore Defaults" BEFORE you attempt a BIOS flash.

Unplug the power cord and either reset the CMOS w/ the jumper or remove the battery for about 10 secs. That should restore the default settings and allow you to boot again.

hehe.....thats just a typical daily occurance for an overclocker.

You set it too fast and it wont boot that fast....you hafta reset it....it helps sometimes to write down all the settings if you
cant remember em.

This is where I thought it would be really cool (and very easy to setup)...for serious overclockers....to have a little switch that would simply reset the bios without opening the case. So when they set it too agressive and it locked..theyd just hit the switch..and reboot. I think they probably have better solutions now but it was still a kool idea.

I think some SERIOUS OC'ers do that JP. They just run a temporary switch to the front of their case. I remember seeing a pic or reading about it somewhere.

The CMOS jumper for the Epox 8rda3+ is shown in this picture. Look for the small yellow jumper near the SiliconImage chip.

Move the jumper to pins 2&3 for a few seconds, and put it back to pins 1&2.

Yes, thanks rp. It works now. Just gotta put it back to where it was and I have now learned not to mess with memory timings.

Well I didnt manually do it. I just did a preset. It was at "Optimal" and just went to the next one down the list. Maybe I should just do "Expert" and do it myself.
