Acronis true image boot problem

Hi All,

I have a problem with Acronis true image on one of my computers here. The problem is when trying to boot the PC from the boot media, the computer hangs.

I'v tried using CDR's, CDRW's and floppies. All these work fine on the other 2 pc's on the network.

So I’m hoping someone here has some experience with true image or any ideas a all would be great.

Thanks

O well. Thanks for the bump. I guess ill give it another one.

Just out of curiosity what kind of problems did you have with it?

You see I’v tried ghost and drive image, but they don’t have the easy networking ability that TrueImage has.

Hi neo -

I've got the same problem as you, using Acronis True Image 6.0, but only on one machine out of 3. The problem machine will not boot from the "Rescue Media" CD I burned, but the other two will. The machines are:

- Athlon desktop (Via chipset) - boots fine

- Pentium notebook (Intel) - boot fine

- Athlon desktop (nforce 2 chipset) - after the initial blue Acronis boot screen, it hangs on a black screen. hard- locked, have to push the reset button.

I have no clue why. Otherwise, I really like the program. So much handier than Ghost or Drive Image. So I'll have to make 5 boot floppies next to see if that'll work.

What kinds of computers are you using? If your problem child is an nforce chipset, maybe that's the factor.

Hi, and Welcome to TechIMO. sorry this took so long for me to get back, I have a nasty habbit of forgetting threads iv posted in.

But anyway, no the PC that won't boot for me is a Talutain Celeron on a 815 board, 1 IBM hdd, and i think a liteon dvd reader and cd burner.

This PC failed to boot acronis from floppy as well.

Some progress to report: I built the Rescue Media in the form of 5 floppies, instead of a CD, and the problem computer boots fine (although very slowly!)

Even better, it sees and restores from the LAN perfectly.

All things considered, this True Image is way ahead of Drive Image or Ghost. I've had my share of headaches with each of them. And neither has the convenience of imaging from within Windows, and the simplicity of restoring within a =complete= OS (Linux) that includes no-hassle networking.
