question about motherboard

I bought a brand new Intel D845EPI motherboard over a month ago, an a Intel Celeron 1.7GHZ 400FSB cpu also. I also bought 256 MB of Dimm memory. Well, here the problem, when I first hooked it all up in case an eveything, nothing would happen. I mean literally nothing woudl happen except power supply warming up. So I had memory switched out to PC 266, had the board switched out also. An still nothing will happen to it. Ive even made sure teh cpu is good, cause with it out, the board does nothing. But with cpu in, an no memory, it beeps 3 times. But with the memory in, it wont beep at all. So im thinking its gotta be teh power supply but im not sure. For this board it says it needs a 350 watt power supply, an the one i got is 300Watt, but would that make that much of a difference to where it wont boot?

P.S. If anyone out there has a Intel D845EPI motherboard, please email me back ur stats on the board, so I can at least get mine to work, Thanks

well first things first you must have the cpu and memory installed to post as well as a video card if no on-board video is present.

300watts is a bit under rated for most of todays systems however as long as its got good power to all the right spots and all you've got hooked to the board then it should be enough to power it.

don't connect any drives just install the memory and cpu as well as the hs/fan make sure everything is seated properly. You'll need to clear the cmos and make sure the jumpers are set back to normal.

OK this is crazy, I ordered a 350 watt power supply designed for Intel computers. Its teh ATX12v compliance deal to. I used that to try and boot it up, and still does nothing. I have the power supply, the memory and the vid card in it also. Which is bare minimum, and it still dont do anything. So now that ive gone an wasted time on doing that, Ive got it singled down to memory. Its Viking pc2100 DDR Dimm, Non-Ecc Unbuffered, just like it asks for, even the people at viking say its the right type of memory, but it still wont boot. So for some reason, Viking memory isnt compatible with this computer. Does anyone who owns a intel celeron based computer have viking memory? Also does anyone know how intels warranty works, cause I wanted to switch out this motherboard with an intel motherboard that has the video built into it. Thanks alot
