Outdoors Belkin UPS acting up!!!

Hi, I have a Belkin UPS F6C525-ser.....I just noticed that if I unplug the power it gives me 110v from battery power for 1 second, then beeps twice and shuts off.

I unpluged everything and tried again and it worked, but as soon as I connected something, like the transformer of my external modem (which uses a tiny amount of power), it shut down.

I guess that as long as there is no drain in the current it works...

At first I though it was the battery, so I pulled it out and checked with a voltimeter and is holding steady at 12.8V, I hooked up a 12v fan to the leads of the battery and the voltaje remained steady at 12.7v all along.
So I don't think the problem is the battery.....it seems fully charged.....

Any ideas???

I know these are pretty hard to open.....I opened one a couple of months ago and almost broke it off..

Most of the decent UPS's come with programmable software. There would be a serial connector to the machine...and when the software is loaded, there will be some settable things. Not being familiar with the Belkin, I do not have a clue.

Sure sounds like battery failure to me tho.. the current drain when connected to the computer would be several amps...where as the 12 volt DC fan drew only an amp (maybe).

Could also be some kind of bad connection in the system somewhere..hard to tell.

12.7 volts is too low for a charged battery, should read about 13.4 volts fully charged. Battery problem.

I had a Belkin 650va work for two power outages....then on the third and fourth(more like brown-outs), it just quit and made my subwoofer hummmmm.
It was still under warranty and Belkin is sending me an 800va to replace it:ccol:
