A bit more info would be nice, Daniel.

Sounds to me like a vid card driver prob. What version of nVidia Detonator drivers have you got?

Cheers
Mick

Sounds like you just need to clean out your OLD drivers, and re-install your new drivers.

(1) Clean your old drivers
(2) Re-install your new drivers

The hard drive doesnt seem to be the issue. Good luck!

DirectX 9 shouldnt be the problem. What is the wattage of your power supply unit (PSU)? (it should be printed on the PSU somewhere.)

You wont be able to downgrade to DirectX 8. Keep DirectX 9. I highly doubt it is the problem.

Clean out all your old drivers, and try re-installing them. (Reinstall the newer drivers, or try the older drivers.)
