Ok. Need a little help here. I bought a laptop a month ago. It was a toshiba. It has died on me. Going to try and see if I can fix it today. Not hopefull about that. So I need a little help. I'm looking around trying to find a new one that won't die on me in six weeks and is not a toshiba i've had two that have died on me with in months. I was looking at the circuit ciy website and found one for a pretty good deal like 900 something. But i've never heard of the brand. Averatec? I've heard dells gateways and vaios are the best out there right now. But those cost money and i'm poor . I'm looking to spend 900-1000 or a little over that. I used that laptop I have for school to surf the net play games you know just every day stuff. I want something I can afford but that will last me and I can get my money worths out of. So any suggestions?

Are you buying the toshibas new? Which Models? From where?

I have been purchasing toshibas for all of our execs and sales team and I have not had any problems. Not even minor problems. They are all still running strong. (not questioning what you are saying, just curious).

Apperantly IBM has a G series thinkpad for $999 also but I haven't been able to find it online.

I can also recommend Dell. We have 4 or so at work and they've performed well.

The first one I had was a satellite new. Lasted me six months. The first time I saw a big promble is when I took it one a trip with me. Froze up couldn't even turn it off at the power button. Got home had a few more small prombles then we had that big lighting strom and well. Second one protage or however you spell it 7200. This one was used. My fault I know. Lasted me six weeks. Just deiced not to work one day. Those are the only two i've had.

That's weird because at my work we have 6 Toshiba laptops from the Pentium 133 era that are still running strong plus we've purchased several new models with no issues. I'm using one here at home, no issues.

Edit: Oops, forgot to put in my recommendation. I'd go for Dell if you don't like Toshiba.
