I realize this may be old news, considering y'all have a combined post count of over 5,000, but here goes:
I recall from reading on the 2500s that AMD started "locking" the mulitplier at week 39 of 2003. The designation can be found in the serial number, 2003039, something like that.
Another review of the NF7S, at Gruntville, gave the board "king of the Hill" status due to the mobo being able to change a multiplier up to 15, as opposed to 12.5 with the Asus. Again, from a recollection, they achieved the hightest stable speed with the 2500 at 185 x 15 rather than 200 x whatever.
The Ebay chips probably refer to those to produced prior to week 39.
