Windows XP Pro Will not start

hi,

I've got a comp with these specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte KT600-L
CPU: AMD Athlon 2400+
RAM: Apacer 256MB DDR 400
Monitor: Sylvania 15" LCD
Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech MX Wireless Combo
Video Card: Connect 3D Radeon 9600 128MB

and my problem is that it comes to the start-up screen where the system is checking your IDE connections, master device, slave device, etc. My comp says:

Check system Healt: OK
Main Processor: AMD Athlon 2400

to enter setup push [del] etc.

it does not check the IDE drives, slave, or master. the screen then blinks and says:

"No Signal"

and goes into sleep mode. My computer had been working for 4 or 5 months, and then when I turned it on this morning that's what happened.

any help is appreciated,
Lance

What happens to your computer when the monitor goes into 'sleep mode'? Does the computer keep running, or does it shut off?

It sounds like your monitor is losing the video connection to your motherboard/graphics card for some reason.
Try:
- Re-seating the video card
- Re-seating all other components
- Unplugging everything but essentials (CPU/Heatsink, Power Supply, RAM, Vid card)
- Swap a spare vid card in (if you have one)
- Reset the CMOS on your motherboard
- Enter the BIOS setup and Load Optimized/Default settings
- pray to the computer gods

Let us know what you try.. and what the results are!

I found what the problem was. The power supply wasn't providing enough energy. I had a 300W and upgraded to a 400W. Thanks.
