I loaded WIN XP Pro on a Compaq Presario 1200, batery would not work. It had Win ME previously and the battery worked just fine. Any ideeas what I can do to make it work?
Thanks,
Marcel
A lot of times it's possible to rebuild the battery. You should be able to crack it open (in a non-damaging way) and look at the type/size/capacity of the cells that make it up. Then order some from a good online battery dealer.
Check out this thread for a ton of good info and some success.
I realize that this is an old lappy but it works good for now. I downloaded a UPS sofware but seems like the battery is holding the power only for about half an hour and then it dies. It's about 2 and some yrs. old. I've got the maximum ram on it which is 384 Mb. I've got a buyer for it. I am selling it as is for $500 cash, is this a good deal?
doesnt sound like TOO bad a price...( i had one of those and sold it for about 300).
id do like sam says if you REALLY want a batt for it...
FYI...the thing developed a "memory" from god only knows what... thats why your only gettin half the life out of it.
if its lasting you somewhere around two hours your in good shape... most lappy batts wont last ya much longer than that... even brand-new ones....(mine dont, and i just bought this thing about 4months ago).
ps... you runnin xp on it? how is the speed?.. does EVERYTHING take forever to open?
