want a little file to turn on/off my screen saver... IDEAS?

Now the title may have been a bit confusing, but here's my situation, and here's what I want to do.

I have my personal laptop at work. I have the screensaver use a password in order to be turned off. This works just fine for when I step out of the office for a bit, but there are times when I'm in the office that I'll get a phone call or something and the screensaver will come on... This annoys me.

Here's what I want to do. I want to put a small file on the desktop that will enable/disable the screen saver just by running it (or 2 files.. whatever). I presume that I can just create a .reg file to do this, but I don't know for sure and I don't know what entries are changed when the screen saver is started.

can anyone help me out here?

thanks
-Z

I can't help with the file you're talking about but IMO, screen savers are a waste of resources anyway. And, BTW, when you move the mouse or click a key it should override it, right? Why not just do away with it altogether? Or, if you get a call, go to the properties and turn it off when you start talking on the phone or increase the time before it will start.

it is not there to save my screen.

it is there to keep prying eyes and fingers away.

cant you just go into the screensaver settings and turn the password option off?... it should just be a check box that needs clearing.

Lock your desktop, if your using windows 2000 or xp, then either click CTRL+ALT+DLT then when the windows security box comes up use lock desktop.
If you have the welcome screen on xp come up, the windows security wont come up and will just go straight to task manager.
In which case you can use windows key+L to lock your desktop whenever you get up.
Then turn off the password in the screen saver and have the screen saver come on whenever you want.
This way is much more secure because people can't just come in moments after you leave and the screen saver is off and turn that off or get into your files.
You control when it's on and it is password promted to unlock.
Also you can enter this into a short cut and maybe put it on your quick launch:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation
That's the command for locking your desktop.
