jmichna, the earthlink tech support is in the otherside of the isle from sbc in the Convergys call center at Heathrow, Fl. all 2300 of the sbc jobs are being shipped to India. So far they have lost Dell, Gateway, earthlink, sbc, seiko, and last but not least Fuse the isp for Cincinatti Bell, the owner of Convergys. I don't know if they still have Sunbeam. How would you like to do tech support for a dehumidifier?

Your SBC information is truly news to me. The SBC/Ameritech forum at www.dslreports.com has offical SBC technical representation. I'll bring this up there and see what they have to say.
In the meanwhile, do you have any links to news reports or business articles that document the migration of SBC tech support to India?

This has always baffled me. A comapny lays off 2500 hundred workers, now in the whole US not many but still. This in turn has them drawing on Unemploytment and other costly support services until able to relocate or find new jobs. All those things associated with that hurts the economy, which in turn hurts businesses. I can't beleive the little bit of money saved shorttem outweighs the negative economic and societal impacts shipping these jobs overseas has.

Would you like to talk to some of the sbc tech support people here in central fl? They can be found down at the one stop career center looking for work.
I was an sbc/ameritech suport representitave.
I don't care what dsl reports say just go to the convergys parking lot in Heathrow and look around. Thats just south of Lakemary Blvd and west of I-4.
They brought people over here from India for us to train and sent some of us to India to do training.
Convergys still has the work it is just being done in India.
You say how is it cheaper. Its called voice over ip and 50 cents an hour for labor.

There are about a half dozen SBC/Ameritech folks who are official company tech reps at the SBC/Ameritech ILEC forum at www.dslreports.com, and I posted the content of your note and asked that they comment... so far none has. You are certainly welcome to look through this forum ( http://www.dslreports.com/forum/rema...5485~mode=flat).
I also merely asked you if you had links of any articles that I could read, regarding your statement.
I never challenged what you said... I'm only looking for some independent confirmation. PS: I live in the Chicago area, and as nice as it would be to go to Florida at this time of year, and ask these folks in person -- as you suggest -- it's not going to happen.

| I have no information relating to this situation, but I do know that the Convergys building did not appear overly active while I was cruising down I-4 the other day.
