Kids Need print server recommendations

I need to add a print server to a peer to peer network. It just needs one parallel connection and one ethernet connection. It will service about 10 PC's using either Win98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Reviews have been scarce about this class of print servers. Here are some models that I am considering:
- D-Link dp-101p+ Print Server
- Hawking Technology PN7127P Internet Print Server
- Netgear PS101 Print Server
- NetGear PS111W Print Server
- Linksys PPSX1 EtherFast 10&100 1-Port PrintServer

Does anyone have any recommendations or warnings?

Thanks...

I haven't used any of those you listed, but I successfully use many HP JetDirects.

Some print servers now only include a USB connection to the printer, so just be sure the one you pick has the parallel conenction if you need it.

I have a netgear PS104 and an HP direct jet.
The netgear works on it's own, but the HP has to have the computer that you set it up with running.
I don't know if all HP are like that, but as far as I am concerned if that is how they work don't wast your money. You could just hook it to the computer if it has to be running anyway.

HP JetDirects do not have to use a server computer, that is just one of the methods that can work.

The only JetDirect that seems close in price to the ones I mentioned is the 170X. But it is only 10Mb.

My priorities are:
- Stability
- Low price
- Performance

The HP JetDirect 170X is in my price range, and I would sacrifice some performance if it gave me greater stability.

Any views on the 170X?

Thanks

I don't know anything specific about that model, but HP Jet Direct boxes are good in my experience. I don't think that the 10Mb is an issue really, not for 10 PCs.

Has anyone tried the HP JetDirect 170X?

Sometimes good manufacturers try to compete in the low end market with just their good names instead of with a quality product.
