2.4C vs. 2.8C / Any Difference?

Is there any differnce between the 2.4c and 2.8c? Will i get more overclock out of the 2.8c? or is the 2.8c just a overclocked 2.4c in disguise?

You will definately get more "bang for your buck" with a 2.4C.

Depently on your motherboard and ram you should get 3.0 Ghz out of your 2.4C.

With my Abit IC7G-Raid (with 2x512 of Kingston Ram) I am running my 2.4C at 3.2 Ghz with air cooling.

OC..412, that was a typo.. G was supposed to be a C.

I haven't heard of anyone getting 3.6+ with air cooling on a 2.4C.

mine runs good at 3.2 GHz.. a 600 mhz overclock is good with air cooling but I am sure I could get it up higher but I won't bother.

In any case.. if you are gonna overclock the 2.4C is the best bet to go for.. its the 300A of the P4 line.

3.6 - 3.7 at least on air with no
voltage change! It is amazing!

Sure.. if you can find one. LOL

Some people have AMAZING O/C'ing with there cpu's and chipsets.. its hard to duplicate sometimes unless you get the right stepping of CPU and motherboard combo (and motherboard Bios revision)... its do-able but not that easy and I hope that you have time on your hands...

But to the original question.. I would take the 2.4 over the 2.8.

dont exactly know the stepping but i built a 2.8c system a few days ago and i easily got to 3.53ghz on stock cooling. 1ghz front side bus and ddr500 ram did the trick on an asus p4c800 motherboard.

personally i prefer the 2.8c because it has a bit more headroom. i bet if i really wanted to, i could have pushed the cpu past the 3.6 mark.
