ahhhh...is this a new install of windows or did you just put a new motherboard in and try to boot off the old wndows install?

Usually it wont work to just slap a new motherboard in....you need to do a 'repair install".....what you can try is to boot off the XP Cd.....dont do the first "R" (recovery console)...but go ahead and choose to install windows..it will search and find your current windows install and you select "repair this windows install"...(or whatever the correct wording is)

oh yeah....99% of the time it just wont boot like that....too many conflicts etc....in the Win98/ME days you would just boot into safe mode and delete a certain registry key to make it re-detect all the hardware but WinXP is different....but some people have reported succes with the "repair install" method.
