Password access page

If I have put a password on a page.

can I prevent that page being opened if someone just hits that page directly? with html:www.blarr blarr blarr/protected.html

So it will only open if its come from my password page??

any idea how I do this..

.htaccess files if your using apache

or you could use php or cgi to create a login page to setup a cookie like this forum does
