disabling startup type stuff?

i heard you can make your computron run a bit faster, and use less ram if you disable most of your non-essential startup programs, and , err, how do you do that?

if you running winxp, winme or win98

go to run and type msconfig


some people like start up cop

If you have Xp (or w2000) you can check out www.blackviper.com, he has a list of "services" that are running by default that you dont need running. he has several different configurations..I use the "safe" one.

you can use XP's msconfig to disable some startup programs too. for windows 2000, i use system mechanic.
