warcraft iii

i am trying to host a game so me and a friend can play warcraft iii:FT on the internet. we make it a public game but when we try to join it gives a error message the error message is within bnet when trying to join the game. also i can see his game in the list if he hosts? we both have routers and im not sure if this is why but could anyone tell me how to be able to host so that we can play together?

when u say using the internet, are u going through BNet? Also, do u both have ur own legal copies of both W3 and W3:FT with unique serials that u havent lent out? Blizzard has been cracking down on serials lately.

I dont see why the routers would be a problem. I run a D-link router and my friend runs a Linksys and we play together all the time w/o a problem.

Do either of you run a firewall that doesnt allow WC to act as a server? That could be your problem right there.

Also you could try to take ur machine into the routers DMZ, but some ISPs dislike that cause then they see 2 IPs for 1 connection. At least thats what happened with me. They actually called me about it.

Besides that I dont know what to tell you. Ya could also check the BNet forums even if they do suck. Or you could email blizzard.

b.net works off a certain port number that you must allow traffic to come through on your router. i dunno the port number off the top of my head though. only the person creating the game has to set that option and you should be fine.
