HL2: Losing Interest

I dont know about you guys, but I am rapidly losing interest in HL2. It seems once again the game companies over hype their games and fail to come through in the long run. Now I know that the hacker messed things up over at valve, but you would think some one would come out with out a statement about a tentative release date. Instead nothing.

Is it just me, or is Half Life 2 rapidly taking on the profile on Team Fortress 2?

It wasnt just the hacker. Sure, that didnt help any, but they had other things to resolve as well. And it aint looking no brighter, some are saying now that the april 04 date is gonna be missed as well.

when the VU guys said april/may 04, i heard the valve guys said (unofficially, of course) that they were speaking out of their behinds. They said 12/03 they would go gold. We see where that got them.

I think the failure to release HL2 in '03 was one of the major pc game let downs of the year. I wouldnt be suprised if it was the letdown of '04 as well.

donnu i dont like this, oh i have to get this game because the graphic looks sweet and etc. etc etc-

the only reason why i would buy it because i loved HL1 not because of the graphics

But HL1 did have really good graphics when it 1st came out

I can understand not buying a game solely for the graphics. In fact, graphic quality is low on my list when it comes to buying games. I look for story, gameplay, originality, and game length when I purchase a game.

But just saying that if the mainstream likes it, it cant live up to my expectations, well that just seems silly.

BTW the first part was a sentence that i hear too often in every board i visit, i mean you dont buy a game just because everone else does it, or just because of the graphics! i do it because i loved the first part!

Along the same lines, Doom3 seems to be coming along. Id are normally a bit better on releases.
Plus, the screenshots look much better as HL2 doesn't do the lighting on the models properly, only the scenery, so it looks a bit out of place. You can see this in the shots that someone posted in the gallery.
