Plexie Mouse Pad

Im making a plexie mousepad (poly carbonate actualy) My prototype turned out kinda nice but lopsidded.

I traced a normal mousepad and then modified the trace to make a new shape then cut it out on the band saw (I couldnt see the lines that well so thats how it ended up lopsided. Next I rounded the edges and took a handheld power sander and made it look frosted. Im thinking of adding a blue led.

Thoughts?

Be sure to put some sort of "feet" on it. If anything gets between it and your desktop one or the other or both will wind up scratched up real good.

If you look around you should be able to find some clear self-stick "buttons" at the larger "box stores" (Lowes / Home Depot).
In a pinch you could put a drop of clear silicone on each corner and let it cure.

Well try a darker marker for it instead.
How does the surface work with your mouse? Does it work ok or better than a normal mouse pad?

i had someone make me a mousepad with acrylic. it has plastic from a binder for the mousing surface since i have an optical. the bottom 2-3 inches are just acrylic with a symbol etched from the bottom. there are 4 led lights under the mousing surface that makes the edges and the symbol light up. its awesom. i will give you a pic when i get back to school (sunday night or monday)

I havent actualy been able to test my optical mouse on it yet because its not charged. But it works fine for my normal mouse but it slides around a bit. (needs feet) a normal mouse pad is better than this but when I add LED's it will look prety kewl. (I think)

I have 100 dollars that Im going to use for modding my computer so I can get the right material in about a week or two to make it right.

I will probably etch a space in a second layor for an LED but who knows I havent desided yet.
