HyperX Heatsink changing colors!!!
This makes me think, but I cannot think what causes this.
I bought these hyperx chips and the blue 'sinks were nice dark blue color, and after having them inside my computer for a while, they turned colors!
The chip closest to the cpu is a purplish color and the other chip is faded on the side facing the case front, but the back of that one is just like new.
Does anyone know what could have caused this?
I know they aren't overheating, I run them at stock(400mhz)fsb.

Probably heat caused by ALL the components in your PC.
I'm assuming off course.!

I'm assuming off course.! | My guess would be discoloration (due to oxidation, aging or heat) of whatever dyes were used to originally color the heat sink metallic components.
True heat "bluing" (incl purple) doesn't occur at temperatures anywhere close to what a CPU heat sink will see. For example, bluing of iron or steel begins (starting with a "straw" color) to take place at about above 450°F. Copper will take on some "funny" colors at a couple hundred degrees Fahrenheit depending on atmosphere... but in your case, it sounds like some dyes were used to color your heat sink... pure copper itself also oxidizes (greens, reds, oranges), even at room temp, in an agressive atmosphere. Aluminum tends to go whiteish/gray (aluminum oxide... relatively inert).

I thought some heat spreaders are supposed to change colours? Or am I just imagining stuff?

I do have a UV light, but RARELY use it, probably not even 30 mins since I had the chips installed.

That's what I was driving at... maybe the colors faded as a result of the UV light...
Is the one that is the original color somewhat shaded from the light?

I don't even see hot the light could get to the ram, all of the ide cables are in the way, although there rounded.
I don't think it is from the light, but it's weird how it changed colors!
