So .... how's the spam so far this year?

With the new spam law in effect has anyone seen a decrease?

Got 41 (2 day's worth) yesterday.

Today only 2.

Hope it's not a flluke.

Bill

OK, how did you guys/gals get rid of it??? I'm still getting 40 per day in my ISP account with Mailwasher no longer set to bounce messages back, since someone here said bouncing might actually increase spam. Only getting a couple a day in free Yahoo inbox, which is normal and I always report them, but bulk mailbox still gets around 50 a day. I've noticed the same spam in both accounts, usually multiple instances daily, with no decrease at all. Is the spam ban automatic or do you have to sign up for it like the telemarketer "do not call" list, which by the way has been extremely effective? Both my accounts are "old" (from my newbie days when I put them on everything) but I'm reluctant to ditch them if relief is in sight...

I take care of spam reporting on 4 peoples accounts. I use SpamCop. There has been a steady decline in the amount of spam for the last 2 weeks. Christmas spam is over I guess. I started the reporting on these accounts about a month ago. I also setup manual spam filters that reject the spam mail.

I guess the legislation has worked to some degree as it is now easier to find the spammers ISP that the E-mail was originally sent from. Many ISP's don't want spam sent through their servers so they take action right away.

The accounts I am refering to use to get between 30 and 50 a day. Now they are down to 2 a day or none at all.

Cheers!

Hmm, now that you mention it, it does seem to have decreased for me.

Thanks, Beemer! I'll give SpamCop a try.

Life would be sweet without the endless "Viagra, male genital enhancement, foreign brides, and see sexy young girls" messages -- seems most spam is targeted at men, so none of it's doing me any good at all...

Send a message via ICQ to Jeordiewhite Send a message via AIM to Jeordiewhite Send a message via Yahoo to Jeordiewhite
What law was this, any links on more info on the effect of this spamming law?
I've got much less in my main account however the "is it just me?" and a few other topics on here seem to be the biggest source of my spam diet on one of my accounts
