ECS K7S5A voltage question

Does the ECS K7S5A mobo automatically detect the stock voltage setting on CPUs? I just upgraded a friend's CPU from a 2000+ to a 2400+ without first checking whether it was a Thoroughbred A or B. Right now it's at 1.65v, which would be the stock setting if it were an A.

I've never fooled around with voltage settings and I don't know anything about them. If in case it was a Thoroughbred B, would running it at 1.65v make any difference and what kind of difference would it make?

The motherboard should read the voltage from the CPU itself.

I'm also inclined to think that the Tbred A and B are the same voltage.

In theory, the CPU will burst into flames at 2.0v (okay, maybe not flames, but you get the idea..) I run my Tbred B at 1.8v for overclocking purposes. In the long run, it will decrease the life of the CPU.

it will auto detect the voltage . if it was an A i think there default was 1.75v but since it is running at 1.65v that would make me think it is a B

Yes it does auto-detect the correct voltage, and yes, the correct voltage for a T-Bred B 2400+ is indeed 1.65V alright.

I thought that the A was 1.65v and the B was 1.60v because of this thread from the AMD forums I found here at TechIMO. But it doesn't really matter since the mobo auto-detects the voltage.

Thanx for the replies!

Only the slowest speed grade T-Bred B are 1.60V. The others are 1.65V.
