MSN Messenger Remote Assistance not working

I tried to start a remote assistance's session with my brother and it worked very well, but when I tried with my friend, it only says it got disconnected.
I asked him if he's using firewall and he said no. Also, the remote assistance's service is started.
Anybody got a clue?

I take it he has it enabled?

Control Panel -> System -> Remote (tab)

The first checkbox should be [x] checked, and when you click the [advanced...] button, that Remote Control checkbox should also be [x] checked.

You sure he doesn't have the XP Firewall on? Have him go to Control Panel -> Network Connections. If he sees a little "lock" icon on his network connection, then it is being protected by the XP Firewall.
To deactivate it, Double-click the network connection that is being used, and on the General tab, click [properties]. Then, on the [advanced] tab, uncheck [x] protect my computer...

Hmm, I haven't thought on that control panel thing yet, but if it is disabled, shouldn't it appear some kind of message saying it's disabled?
Anyway, I'll ask him when I get a chance and yes.. I'm sure XP firewall is off as I've already asked on the phone.

Ask him if he has a router, also.
