Canon BJC-5000 Printer installation problem in Win2k

Hey, my brothers computer wont let him install the drivers to the printer.

He's running an intel celeron 1.3
on an ECS p6STMT board
on windows 2000

it keeps giving him this message

"printer driver was not installed. operation could not be completed."

could it be that the LPT1 port is dead ?? its a new board never been used before.

I've never had problems with installing printers before so I really have no idea where to start?

Should I take a look at the Bios settings? I set it to ECP + EPP ... because that's what our printer manual tells us, should i go back to SPP?

any suggesstions anyone?

ECP + EPP is fine.

Are you using a driver disk from the mfr, or d/l'd from the internet. If from a disk, could be bad media. Try d/l'ing from the mfr's website.
If you're already using from the mfr's website, make sure you got the correct ones and maybe try d/l'ing again.

EDIT - Clicking "I Agree - Begin Download" here should start the d/l of the 2K drivers for the BJC5000.

Please check the printer's manual for the best printer port mode. ECP and/or EPP were particularly _not_ fine with older Canon models, resulting in the occasional garbled print.
