ATI Drivers for Linux?

I d/l the Linux drivers for my 9700 pro, and tried to install them- got this message:
file /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2 from install of fglrx-glc22-4.1.0-3.7.0 conflicts with file from package libxfree86-4.3-23mdk

What does it mean?

Also- does Mandrake support multiple monitors? How do I enable?

Go here first: http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache...ng_en&ie=UTF-8

If that doesnt work check out the following to see if it applies-

Its been suggested you follow the instructions here : http://www.linuxforum.com/forums/ind...showtopic=6560

Also go here : ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp...0/fglrx/3.2.8/
Read the readme.

The multi monitor answer is yes : http://www.realtimesoft.com/multimon/linux/mandrake7/

It means you need to RTFM The ATi driver installation instructions clearly say you need to uninstall an existing OpenGL driver package, and it also happens to tell you how to do this.
Multiple monitors are something that the XFree86 system does support quite elegantly. "man XF86Config" is your friend ... after you've let the ATi installation and "xf86 --configure" do their job.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/readme0370.txt

This is the instructions linked from the driver download page straight at ATi. Do as you're told, and if still no workee, come back here for a possible Plan B.
