help (mic worked, installed service pack now it doesnt)

hi,
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... I recently installed
the windows critical service pack, now my mic doesnt work.. Ive reinstalled windows, Ive loaded the drivers from my board's driver disk.. now mic still doesnt work and ive got some sort of conflict of drivers?

Sounds like it would be sound driver...what is your mobo chipset?

ack, its windows xp, and the board is VIA AK75-EC

Welcome to TechIMO!

Your motherboard is actually made by DFI. There are no 'XP' drivers for it, but usually Windows2000 drivers will work just fine.

Check out the latest drivers for the AK75-EC and attempt to install them.

You will get a message indicating that the driver is 'not digitally signed', so you just hit [continue installation], and it should let you install anyway. (All that means, is that it wasn't specifically made for XP, so it is warning you about it.)

If that doesn't work, tell us what kind of issues (if any) you see in your Device Manager (Control Panel -> System -> [Hardware] -> Device Manager)
