19" LCD monitor: Samsung or Planar?

I'm looking at the 191T/192T and the PX191. $100 difference in price and the Planar seems to be the better of the 2, but at a cost.

Other than the mount, what is the difference between the 191 and 192?

I do some gaming, but not that much, but I do scroll web pages and ghosting/trailing images/text would be a problem. Half the reviews for the Samsungs say ghosting is a problem the other half say it's not or at least very little.

I assume it is some kind of issue with the video card and the monitor, but don't know what. Any input on why a card would cause ghosting (using recent cards)?

The difference between the 191T and 192 is the 192 is analog only and has a 500:1 contrast ratio where the 191T has both analog and digital connections with a 700:1 contrast ratio---I have the newer 191T Plus which has a slightly higher contrast ratio then the 191T (750:1)---the specs look almost identical between the Planar and the 191T+
What price did you get for the PX? Cheapest I can see it is 800$
The Samsung I bought was 600$ and im entirely happy with it, if you want the fastest sharpest LCD going I think its probably the Samsung 172X with a 12ms pixel refresh but so far available only in a 17"...

192T is both.............please look closer at the choices!

The PX191 at ecost and pc connection is around $780
delivered.
The 171t is $630 and the 172t is $690 at tech on web delivered!

The 172 is newer by at least 3 months!

I want a 19" and gaming isn't that important, but trails from mouse motion and blur from scrolling web pages is!

That is the "N" version and what about ghosting/bluring of moving images????

Most LCD's look great with static images, it's when things move where the problem is!

Well I have a 193T not sure the diff. between the 191/192/193 models though, from what it seems.. it DOES ghost a bit during games. I mean.. however it's by all means playable and since you only do 'some' gaming like me, I'm sure it wouldn't be dat bad

If you only want good gaming performance, your better off getting a low response time LCD rather than a larger one with a higher response time.

The last number in the model number is the year of introduction.

I just ran across this from Anandtech:

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1855&p=15

"“What is the best 19" LCD?” — Another popular question. Unfortunately, again, they are pretty much all the same. The Dell 1900FP, Dell 1901FP, Planar PX191, Samsung 191T and Samsung 192T are all based on the same panel. There are about another 20 tier 2 and 3 manufacturers that carry monitors that look identical to the Samsung 191T as well. As far as we can tell, we have yet to find one that is not based on the same Samsung substrate as the other previously mentioned 5 panels. There is a slight difference in circuitry from one to the other, but do not think one display will perform differently than another. Again, it goes back to the issue of cost. The Dell 1900FP and 1901FPs seem to price rather aggressively, and they are probably your best bet."

Kind of sheds a new light on the issue! Can't seem to justfy spending $800 for the PX191 when the 191T can be had for $640! Also, I can get the PL190 for $600 which makes the mix more interesting!
