NFSU is giving me fits
Ok, here goes. I can run the game, but not on all tracks. The only ones I can't run so far are the drift and drag tracks. If I try to load them, the system crashs to the desktop, and in XP it locks solid there, but in 98se it just crashs, no lockup.
I haven't got far enough to unlock anything, so I don't know how it reacts to all the other tracks beyond the basics.
I have already run the dx9 diagnostic, and all checks out there, plus I have killed all processes that are not essential.
system specs:
98se/XP
Epox 8kha+
AMD XP2000+
2X 256mb DDR 2100 Crucial
2X WD 20gb HDD's
ATI Radeon 9000
SB 16 PCI
Anybody have any ideas?
Jer

Are you overclocking your CPU, RAM or vid card?
If so, have you tried it at stock speeds?
If not, have you checked the CPU temp when gaming?
Could possibly be an overheating problem.
If none of the above (not to accuse you of anything illegal), is this a legit full version of the game, or a warez version?

Jer | well, could be the hardware in your system..."don't quote me on this though"
looks like the video card ,or the cpu could be the culprits...friend of mine has about the same setup, using a S3 video card though and he has problems with high detail games. he was running bird hunter and his graphics would not run well. Have you been able to run other games with high graphics?

Weakening power supplies and bad RAM can cause all kinds of headaches. What about your power supply?List brand wattage and max amp ratings on the 3.3 5 and 12 volt rails. As far as your RAM,did you run Memtest86?Check your IRQ listings for any shared IRQ that may conflict.

I don't mean to chang your thread, but I am curious. Are the graphics in that game as good as NFS Porsche unleashed?
Oh yeah, I used to have problem with NFS Porsche unleashed due to running temps too high.

PU is like 4-5 years old man.....I would hope the graphics are better. To answer your question, yes they are...

The game is legit, no warez. No overclock currently, and the CPU temp at lockup is 111F.
The only other game I play is Batlefield 1942, which runs great. Actually NFSU runs great as well, I just can't get to those two tracks. I have tried to re-install, and patch.
I have tested the RAM with memtest86 and the microsoft memtest, all checks out good. The psu is 350w, and it is getting old, but I don't think thats the probelm due to the fact that the game runs excellent, excpet for the two tracks listed above.
I have also tried copying the discs to the hdd and install and run from there, still no go. I am starting to lean towards a bad game disk.
Thanks for the help so far
Jer
