pci display controller problem

ok im gettin this error on my girlfriends parents old computer. when it first boots up it beeps twice fast and then gives this error


ERROR
Invalid System Configuration Data - run configuration utility
ERROR
Warning : IRQ not configured - PCI Display Controller
Bus:00, Device:14 , Function:00


i formatted the drive so i have no clue and i dont see where to run the configuration utility in the setup.

when this error happenes it gives you the option of pressin f1 to continue or f10 for setup

any ideas would be helpfull

Appears to be something in the BIOS is misconfigured. Press F10 to go into setup... look for an option that says "Load setup defaults" or something similar.

Enter BIOS setup, enable "Assign IRQ to VGA".

this computer has a on board vid card.. so i see no reason why that error is there.. its not a pci vid card.. anyone else have any ideas?

weird, getting irq type issue with onboard vid.....you could try this....they to free up some irq resources by making sure that both serial ports (com ports) and also the parallel port are disabled in the bios. (unless you absolutely need them, like if you have a parallel printer etc)

But if you disable those you might free up and irq or elsewise eliminate the problem.
