Whenever I go to install something, whether it be a game, or an update to something on my computer, I get the same error every time. I've been trying to re-install halflife, counterstrike, and even my Diablo 2 (which is the real disk) and the error still pops up, it even pops up when I'm trying to install Direct X. This is preventing me from a lot, and I'm beginning to get pissed off.
The error says: "An I/O Error has occured during an installation. This is usually caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file." I understand the idea of this, but with every installation? Come on.
Please help

sounds like a bad cd-rom drive to me. do you have another one you can test with? if not you can get a new one from newegg for cheap

not all the things I've been trying to install are from Cd's though. the majority of the files are downloaded, that's what is pissing me off, because I spent so much time trying to get files so I can play a game, and the game won't even get installed.
