P4 2.8C and Serial ATA hard drives

Does anybody here have the Western Digital Raptor Serial ATA hard drive? I've got an Abit IC7 with the Raptor 36 Gb 10,000 rpm SATA hard drive, P4 2.8 C and PC4000 memory. I can't go over a 10 mhz increase with my fsb before I run into Windows errors. I'm assuming it's the hard drive, but I'm curious if anybody else has the same hard drive or similar SATA setup as I, and any problems you have.

Is it an IC7G or IC7-max3? or just IC7?

I was just gonna look for reviews cuz you know they always oc the heck out of them..especially abits which are known as OC boards.....so I am sure Abit would have this addressed.

IC7 Max3

other max3 review

I do notice when they do benchmarks and oc stuff..they always seem to have regular ATA drives in the setup?? Kinda weird

Just a regular IC7. I checked www.overclockers.com cpu database and the average was 3.4Ghz for my chip. The low was just over 3Ghz, which I don't get close too even.

maybe the only way to know for sure it do a quick build with an ata drive and see what it does..if its any different..or better yet, just ghost that build over to an ata drive just for kicks.

Surely someone else in the world OC's with sata on abit boards though (or with that drive)

I can do that pretty easily. I agree with you though, there has to be others with SATA setups that O/C
