Tech Did Microsoft do something RIGHT ????

Well, last night I couldn't sleep , so in a fit of insanity I decided to download Windows updates for my laptop ( all except SP 1 ), then I noticed a driver update for my DWL-650+ wireless card. So , I said to myself, what the hell. To my amazement after installing the kb driver update, my connection is excellent at a full 22Mbps. Would be nice if they could get ALL their software to work as well as this !!!!!!!

You risk your mortal soul.

I d/l'd an M$ driver once . . . Why not go to the mfr's website and see if they don't have an even better driver?

Ive heard sooo many horror stories about driver updates from msoft. I remember lots of customers at the old comp store I worked at....we'd tell em to do the windows updates and they call back saying it blew the system up etc....invariably they had done the driver updates.

I think I did it once and that was to get the sound working on a K7S5A that I had an olddddd non-xp driver disk.

I did a driver update once for my mouse. I later had to remove the driver without the use of my mouse...

Yeah, I tend to avoid them from MS unless its MS hardware. Have seen it kill the device more than once. Driver rollback is quite handy.

That's why I didn't get SP1. When I first got my laptop, I installed SP1 and had to use the restore discs to get it working again.
