Finance How to watermark

I've got a couple images that i uploaded publicly but now i'm really thinking about putting a logo in one of the corners of each image so that leechers will get a little discouraged (each image is fairly large in size). I prefer doing this in Photoshop if it's simple enough.

Perhaps we'll have to wait for outpatient to wake up =)

When you say a logo, do you mean like a faded logo in the background... or literally just a little icon slapped in the corner? I would think an icon in the corner would allow for a "leecher" to simple edit/crop it out b/c its prolly not in an important area of the image.

make the logo background transparent and paste it on the image. i think that will work.

Well, do you want a watermark or do you just want to stamp your logo or something in the corner? Technically a watermark is usually a faint, barely visible image that underlies the main picture. In the realwold a watermark would actually be embedded in the paper. For the digital world there is such a thing as a digital watermark that is virtually invisible and embedded throughout the image so people can't remove it. Or you can just use a faint, transparent image to simulate a real world type watermark. OR you can just stamp your logo in the corner.

i've seen some freeware/shareware tools that will allow you to do this (ie. place text on the image), esp if you want to 'stamp' a bunch of files...saves having to go thru the tedium of open & saving each pic.

do a search at www.snapfiles.com (used to be the webattack site)

I need it to be like a Tom's Hardware benchmark except fainter because I'll be adding it to photos. Does that seem like the best option?

what format are the images in?
If its just like a jpeg you could paste a logo on another layer in photoshop, then lower the occupacy such that its is faint. And then in a format like a jpeg it flattens the layers so I dont think you could simply remove it and leave the other original image in tact.

Me? I probably wouldn't do it. I'm not a big fan of watermarks nor am I really fond of logo tags people stick on images. IMO if the image is some form of art (and practically everything is) then it shouldn't be altered or defaced in any way by anybody except the artist. If it's your own works you want to tag I'd suggest simply designing a little signature or moniker to put in the corner of the image. Preferably customize it to match each image. Like what you see in the lower right corner of these images of mine:

http://home.comcast.net/~outpatient/...stonecubes.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~outpatient/...arblecubes.jpg
http://home.comcast.net/~outpatient/...colorcubes.jpg

But you should realize this will in no way slow down someone that wants to steal your images. They can just as easily place their logo right on top of yours.

One of the better ways to easily deter people from lifting your images is to splice them up in to smaller parts that fit together like a puzzle. This way when people view the image it'll look whole as it should, but if they right-click and save the image they'll only save one little puzzle piece of it. Of course they can still do a screen capture. No stopping that.

Could you give me some directions on how to do a simple tag that blends into the picture?
