Fiber Optics

I have been trying to sort out some networking issues for a company, the pervious company left a mess of wires behind runing through the building..including a fiber optic cable going from the front to the back.

i need to light up that thread again..but i dont know what i need.

i have done some research and it seems the easiest would be a media converter.

however, what i need to know is if i can use a 50/62.5 to ethernet converter on 62.5/125 cable (i dont think so, but hey, if i could, i would save the company in the range of $600 (62.5/125 media converters *seem* to be $200, where a 50/125 converter would be like..$50 or so)

I'm not an expert on the subject but my guess is that you can't.

Do you need SC or ST connectors for the fiber? Do you need 10baseT and/or 100baseT on the UTP side?

They have 10mbps versions that are cheaper

You may be wise to take these examples and search other vendors for better pricing.
