I have a 2500+ running at normal speeds and it idles at 37C, am I able to overclock to 3200+ speeds or 200mhz without a temperature risk? Should I straight to 200mhz or at 10mhz increments?

guess depends on your system specs...
I run athlon xp 2500 FSB @ 200X11= Athlon XP 3200
running my pc 2700 333 Dual channel 1:1 with cpu so running 400 DDR 2 sticks of 256=512 of mem.
running a K7N2 Delta L nforce 2 MSI 400 edition motherboard
Radeon 9600 128 pro X8
13 gig 7200 rpm ata 66 HD
sound blaster live

1.6 volts on cpu
temps run between 49-55 depending on idle or playing games etc. Runs stable, no probs.
side intake fan blowing on pc cards
rear top exhaust fan
rear pci exhaust fan 2 slots under AGP card...leaving open slot under agp
standard heatsink and fan for cpu
standard fan for agp

Most XP 2500 Barton's need 1.675v or 1.7v to be stable as a XP 3200 . Abit NF-7 v2 , just selected XP3200 in bios setup and it booted right up , super stable benchmarks , using ThermalRight SK-7 heatsink , with cfm adjustable 80mm fan , idle @ 36C , load up to 42C .

i keep it at 1.675v due to temps, i use stock heatsink and fan for that cpu, so if i would switch to the thermalright sk-7 heatsink, you think it would lower my temp? stable now, but cooler better

I have a Zalman 7000 CNPS A-Cu, I applied the grease that came with it, does that stuff have a burn in time?

Just did a recent build with an XP2500+, CoolerMaster Jet7, 1GB Kingston HyperX PC3500, and a Biostar M7NCD nForce2 mobo. After working through some kinks and letting the Arctic Silver 5 set in I was idling @ 36C. Tried to up the FSB to 200MHz and no joy.10Mhz increments might be the better way to go.

My 2500+ (locked) w/ NF7-s v2 is a bit dodgy too, it fails to boot at 3200+ speeds even with the voltage bumped up to 1.75v.. somethings definitely wrong

Using stock cooling too, so I can't afford to pump up the voltage by a lot or else heat would become a problem.. esp. wif the hot summer here in Australia

i didn't have any problems just setting FSB to 200, left multiplier at 11 and left voltage stock.
Bought my 2500 about 3 months ago, not sure if it is locked or not, but as shown above, can overclock it without probs. Only prob. is my temp runs alittle high, but doesn't seem to have any effects on my pc. I have had it up to 203x11 but to high of temps for cpu at idle, running 58C, so i lowered it back down.

check out attatchment for details onmy specs.
