Ok the situation I am using a laptop with windows ME, and have pentium P4 266 processor with usual mem etc...
All was working fine, after a shut down now when i turn my laptop on the TFT screen just displays the white light screen nothing more at all.
The Laptop is still working as long as i attach my std VDU on the extrenal connection. All drivers look installed correctly and i have no indications of software problems in my system properties.
With the above information can anyone tell me is this my screen that has decided to die? or can any other driver/connection problems cause this to happen that I might need to check?
I have check all I can, typical driver re-installs etc.. even replaced internal clock battery.. ( that was a tip of another site )
But Im still stuffed as a loptop is just not the same when i have to carry a 14inch monitor in my laptop bag as well..
If anyone who might know of the problem can help i would apperciate any advice..
Woops 266 was just a number in my head its a pentium P4 system properties says its running at 2.40ghz. make is Aris N34as1 actual spec can be seen at http://www.uniwill.com/Product/N34AS1/N34AS1.htm
If its hardware I presume u mean the screen more than graphics card.
thats worse thing yea still under warranty but bought in Spain and just a pain in rear to get it back to who I got it from. local computer fair might have a boffin on it so i will drop in..
I guess now is to find a cheep place to get a 14inch replacement TFT so if anyone knows of a cheep place a link will not go a miss.. cheers. Or even on a wild guess if anyone knows how to test a TFT screen like the invertor ? hmmm just asking..
well, theres really no such thing as a "cheap" laptop screen replacement, will prolly be at least 400-500 dollars.
Normally laptops are specific to a specific model screen and inverter, try searching google for your exact laptop model and you might be able to find something. Back a few months ago i had an old dell laptop that I cracked the LCD panel on it... it turned out that a replacement screen would have been around 600 dollars, so I decided to just sell it on ebay as something someone could use with a monitor attached.
Since this laptop is alot newer tho It might be worth your while to try and get it repaired. If it were me, before forking out the money for a new screen I'd definately try contacint whomever you bought it fromuntil they agreed to replace it (since its under warranty).
Hmm I can see this laptop becoming my new house PC and buying a new laptop.... Im determined to fix the blasted thing and not get ripped off by some skally engineer... thats my motto.
And I still have the problem laptop bought in spain and im in uk and well they just dont want to speak or reply to english people..
