HP CDRW

I have an HP CDR/RW that is about 2 yrs. old and whenever I put a CD into it whether it be a music CD or a Data CD, it won't read it. Is there some way I can fix that myself, or what do you think may be wrong with it?

try updating your drivers. what dose it say in your device manager? what operating system are you using?

I'm was using ME, and have since taken that drive out. Could it have just been the OS causing the drive not to work. I don't have it hooked up now, because I thought it was broken.

I bought a new drive and it worked fine, so I didn't know if there was some way to know what was wrong if it wouldn't pick up and read a CD.

it possibly was broken. As far as I have EVER known..there are no drivers to worry about when messing with cdroms etc.

You could put it back in and see if it works....sounds sort of like it just died.
