Kids Win2K Printer Prob: Printer operation cannot continue due to lack of resources.

Hay guys, man sorry for all these problems im getting, but yeah I can't seem to add a printer

i keep getting this message

"Printer Operation cannot continue due to lack of resources. The print subsystem is unavailable."

now, i added a printer when i first installed win2k, then i aded all the update patches etc. and now its gone and i get that message.

whats up with that man?

i looked at this article

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;271248

don't know if thats really the problem i have though,
id prefer not to have to rename all those .dll's cuz those things are tricky

Ok, i need a favour from anyone thats runing WIN2k, i think i deleted something from the registry that I shouldnt have
its under the following section

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors

under that section there should be the following keys:

BJ Language Monitor
Local Port
PJL Language Monitor
Standard TCP/IP Port
USB Monitor
Windows NT Fax Monitor

I think i deleted BJ language monitor

I want to readd it but I don't know what key info or values is in it so anyone wiht win2k please check for me and post the values i need??

What? You didn't back-up the registry before "playing"? From the School of Hard Knocks, eh?

Been there, done that.

Here's what my \Monitors branch looks like:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\BJ Language Monitor]
"Driver"="cnbjmon.dll"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\Local Port]
"Driver"="localspl.dll"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\PJL Language Monitor]
"Driver"="pjlmon.dll"
"EOJTimeout"=dword:0000ea60

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP Port]
"Driver"="tcpmon.dll"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP Port\Ports]
"StatusUpdateInterval"=dword:0000000a
"StatusUpdateEnabled"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Monitors\USB Monitor]
"Driver"="usbmon.dll"

Notice I don't have the NT fax entry in mine - it's probably related to your specific hardware situation. If adding the missing entry doesn't work I suggest uninstalling/reinstalling the printer but SHUTDOWN completely before the reinstall. If that doesn't work try reinstalling W2K from within Windows. It should fix the broken registry and you shouldn't lose any data. You might have to redo the updates. Good luck.
