Dual Booting. Will this work?

My MB gives me booting options.

I have two identical drives and want to make a small partiton in #2 to install WIN98SE. Partition Magic says I Win98 has to be on the first drive. (where Win2k is).

If I make a Fat 32 10G partition on disk two and put Win98 on it, will it be bootable using the boot menu?

And...

Will I still see files on my NTFS partiton on this disk #2 ? (I back up from disk 1 win2K to a disk 2 partition).

Thanks in Advance...

dunno about the booting aspect of it. I am sure there are several ways to go about it....if you were to find a way to install w98se first on a hard drive partition, you could then put w2k on and it would do the dual boot part for you. But I am sure PMagic can do it other ways.

As far as seeing the ntfs files etc..I dont think you will be able to see the ntfs stuff from the W98se partition no matter what you do...but yes, you will still be able to backup etc from one ntfs partition to an ntfs partition on the other drive.

Kinda similar to what JP said, i would pull the win2k drive because win98 get's very unhappy if it's not the first primary partition on the primary master drive. 98 won't read ntfs tho at all, sorry.

Will Win2K read the files on the Fat32 partition?

2K will read 98. 98 will not be able to read2k. Like said before, if you can, put 98 on drive 1 and then install 2K on drive 2. Then 2K will ask which drive and create a dual boot menu. Part Cdr can give you a dual boot but it won't be quite as clean or as easy.

98 will not be able to read2k . . . that's a little untrue.

98 can read FAT, FAT32
Me can read FAT, FAT32
2K can read FAT, FAT32, NTFS
XP can read FAT, FAT32, NTFS

98 and ME wont read ntfs..that is the more accurate way to state it....of course you could run Win2k on fat32 and Win98 could see it then but youd lose half of the reason to run win2k in the first place...(ntfs has compression, security etc)
