ATI readon 9600 pro help

System Info

ASUS a78nx-D
512 Pc3200 Geil
ATI readon 9600 Pro (Saphire)
Winxp (clean install and service pack 1)

i have installed the latest Nforce drivers (3.13) and the newest ATI drivers (Cataylst 3.10) and when my step brother plays counterstrike or Max payne it freezes. (Max payne gave me a VPU recovery error) i ran 3DMark03 with no problems.

Also i was wondering if there was any patches or tweaks i could apply to this card to get the most of it? I think i read something about turning off fast write?

Try setting it to 4x AGP and turning off fastwrite. See how it runs. Also I have heard many complaints about the 3.10's. Try a different set of drivers also if the previous sentence doesn't fix it.

I'm using the Cat 3.9 and they're the best drivers I've used thus far, I haven't tried out the Cat 3.10 but I don't see a reason to upgrade yet. Maybe you should downgrade to 3.9 or try the Omega ones.
Is that 512 megs of ram 1 or two strips?

Also, I don't think it'd hurt to check this thread out either

You can also try testing with fast writes on and disabling VPU recovery from the drivers and see if that stops the freezes also.!
