Adding a PS2 to our Linksys Router

My son got a PS2 network bundle for Christmas. We have a home network system sharing a DSL connection through a Linksys router. My son's PS2 came with its own network adaptor, so I assume we can just connect it to the router and he's in business. I was curious if any of the board members have done this, and if there is anything special I might need to do? Thanking all in advance, and happy holidays!

does it give any instructions with the ps2? The only thing I can think of is that certain "ports" might have to be "forwarded" to the IP that the PS gets.....if so it will tell you or maybe that depends more on the particular games that are played online etc.

But you are right, probably plenty peeps in the forum have done it already. I am sure it is pretty straightforward.

Thanks, John. I'm sure you're right. He hasn't done the hook-up yet. We needed to pick up some more cable. Will probably do that this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted as to the results.

to play games you should be able to plug it in and connect to any game. To have kids connect to your son games that he creates is where you will need to start forwarding ports.

I would have loved a White Christmas, but for now I'm glad the snow is staying out of my neck of the woods. That massive snowstorm we had last February, was enough for this old California boy I'm glad the snow we have had, has hit on the weekends. My youngest daughter loves to get the snow days off from school, but I don't enjoy trying to get to work, and if I do stay at home, I have that much more to do when I return. A catch 22
