Possible virus infection, not sure

Just the other day, I downloaded something. Within this there was probably a virus. Ever since it was downloaded, I've been receiving like this message that says: A program is attempting to send the followoing e-mail message on your behalf: (some email address@somehost.com). And then at the bottom it says: Would you like to send the message? two buttons: Send, Don't send.

And there's like a ton of these. For a lot of different email addresses. It keeps goin' on and I have to click it so many times. After a certain number of "Don't Send" clicks, it dissapears, and it comes back after like, 3 minutes or so.

One time I accidently clicked send on one of these, and I checked the Microsoft outlook express outbox and the message said something like: hey check out my new secret girlfriend or something. It had an attachment to it, but I dared not open it.

I desperately need help with this, and if you would provide assistance, I thank you greatly in advance.

I just used the pandasoftware.com scanner, and now it's stopped for a while, but I'm unsure of it being gone or not, because on the report it said that one virus could not be cured. So I hope that it's fixed, and thank you for your input. Appreciated.

do you have a spyware scanner?

most everyone here runs adaware 6 from www.lavasoftusa.com ...helps a lot with trojans and page hijackers and that sort of thing.....you can run a virus scan and it be clean but then run adaware and find 100 instances of "spyware" etc.

get it, update it, run it....you'll be happy

you should use spybot and adaware. they both find things that the other cant. plus update them before scanning.

DONT RUN THINGS THAT MIGHT HAVE A VIRUS.
get the free AVG antivirus and check for updates and then scan.
If you think something might have a virus right click it and click Test by AVG (which will appear once you install AVG antivirus) to see if it does. If AVG finds a virus and cant repair it then put it in the virus vault, unless it's an important system file (then i dont know what you can do).
