Outdoors IBM TP 600E power problem

Hi,

I've just bought a used laptop Thinkpad 600E, after few days the laptop doesn't start with the AC adapter any more. The power supply (AC Adapter) is good, but the laptop doesn't start. It is working with the battery, but with the AC not. Please any help.

Cheers, and happy new year.

Welcome to TechIMO!

How have you determined that the power supply is good?

I have replaced 2 power supplies on my laptop, simply because the wires (at the laptop end) were frayed from all the bends/twists over the years.

It could be the motherboard going flaky at the power connector, which would indicate that you need the motehrboard repaired or replaced by IBM if still under warranty.

Did you check the pins on the end of the power cable, and the pins/holes where you plug it into the laptop?

Have you tried a different wall outlet?

Is the battery secure in its place? Sometimes if a battery isn't seated correctly, the laptop will refuse to use power from the power supply (because it can't get the battery to charge correctly, so it safeguards itself.)

Have you spent some alone time with your laptop and talked to it about its performance? Sometimes all it needs is a little encourangement to keep going.

Well, first, thanks for your reply.

For the power supply i did try it with the same laptop of a friend of mine, and it didn't work. I used his power supply witch is good and doesn't work with my laptop. In the all process the battery was well seated or totally removed. That means as you said, the problem is in the motherboard in the power entry.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers.
