Outlook 2003 Can't find "Rules and Alerts"
Hi there,
Just did a full install (not typical) of Microsoft Office 2003. In Outlook 2003 it doesn't show the normal "Rules and Alerts" option for configuring rules and alerts. I've reinstalled and that still doesn't work, any ideas?
BTW, see the attached pic for more what the "Tools" menu looks like.

Are you connected to an exchange server, or using POP3? I'm not sure if Rules & Alerts work on a POP3 account. (I could very well be wrong..)
How about running outlook in 'safe mode':
Outlook.exe /Safe
Did you try creating a new profile? Maybe it is a profile-specific issue.

I've used Rules and Alerts for years (since 2000) with POP3... so that's not it.
Trying safe mode as we speak. Good idea!
I'll give it a whirl in a different profile, another good idea!
Reporting back in a few minutes.

Safe mode didn't fix it, and neither did logging in a different profile.
This is really upsetting.
Anyone else?
TIA!

If you run the office setup again, and choose to 'modify' your installation, does it show that Rules & Alerts are installed? (I would assume so, if you did the Full install..) I'm not sure if that is even listed as an optional component or not.
Maybe if it IS showing installed, un-install that component, and re-install it.

I tried that and didn't see an option for Rules and Alerts.
I'll check again though...

Out of curiosity, If you right-click an email message, do you have the option to "Create Rule..." ?

Ok, I feel like an idiot.
You must first add email accounts before Rules and Alerts will show.
OMG, that was so obvious.
Thanks for the help rpertusio!
