Kids Which A/V capture card to buy?

I have some VHS tapes I would like to put on DVD, but I need a capture card to do it. I have a firewire card, but it only works for my Minidv camcorder. I could copy from VHS to Minidv, but there is some loss of quality for coping. I would like to go directly from VHS to DVD. Any suggestions?

Thanks phenious.

Does your card just do capture, or does it have any kind of control capability to the vcr?

I can capture from RCA cables which is what most VCRs use... S-Video as well and I can use the software it came with to make it a TIVIO like device.

I am looking into the same thing as I just got a Plextor 708a burner. I have been leaning toward the Hauppauge WinTV 401...but still researching.

I have the hauppauge Wintv, its nice .. I do think its better than the ati all in wonder ( of which I have two) BUT, media player 9b will crash it if you don't find the patch for it ... I just fixed mine yesterday..

There is a Leadtek 2000xp or something for like $50 that looks tempting as well.....it is a toss between those two.

Thanks for all the input.

It seems that the cards mentioned so far are T.V. tuner / capture cards. Are ther any just capture cards as I really do not need the tv aspect of the card.
