problems sending email

hopefully i have enough info but let me know if i need any more and i'll try. well an employee is using ms outlook to send and receive company email from his remote laptop through aol using POP3. our company has a ms exchange email server and the address to it is used in the pop3 and smtp settings. the problem seems to be that aol does not allow email to be sent through them that is not theirs. so he cant use his company email address and send emails using aol. from what i understand this is pretty common with other isp's too. is there anyway around this? he is able to receive email fine but not send it. i think our network guys did some temporary fix and we used a different smtp port instead of 25 but that doesnt seem to be working. any ideas?

Nope, AOL blocks mail going off of their network. I tried to talk to them about this at one point, but they dont care. Perhaps he could tunnel in and check that way? Much more secure too.

Real helpful Elroy. AOL still has tons more POPs than anyone else. Because of that they are a good occasional ISP for someone that travels alot.
