Kids Gibson's Spinrite

Any-TechIMO-body use Gibson Research's "Spinrite" product?

I've got a Seagate ST340016A drive that failed. Seagate's SeaTools diagnostics could find the problem (only one sector), but not fix it, and recommended getting an RMA.

I know Spinrite only supports FAT (-12, -16 and -32) disks (and I use NTFS exclusively), but I understand I could format the drive using FAT-32, run Spinrite -- which will mark out the bad sector(s) -- then repartition and format NTFS.

My dilemma is the high cost of Spinrite... is it worth it for a product that, today, only supports FAT?

Is anyone aware of a product like Spinrite, but supporting NTFS?
TIA,
jmichna
